Wimbledon: Sinner Beats Shelton, Advances to Semi-Finals

London: Three-time Grand Slam winner and current world number one, Jannik Sinner, defeated USA’s number 10 seed Ben Shelton in straight sets, with scores of 7-6, 6-4, 6-4, securing his place in the Wimbledon semi-finals on Wednesday.

According to Ansa News Agency, the 23-year-old South Tyrolean athlete is set to face either Serbian tennis legend Novak Djokovic or fellow Italian Flavio Cobolli, who are competitors in another quarter-final match. Sinner, who played with a compression sleeve on his right arm due to an injury sustained against Gregor Dimitrov in the previous round, is striving for his first Wimbledon title.

Sinner has previously claimed victory at two Australian Opens and a US Open. However, he recently experienced a loss at the French Open to world number two Carlos Alcaraz of Spain, a five-time Grand Slam winner, in a marathon final at Roland-Garros, despite holding three match points in the fourth set.
