Wimbledon: Darderi Through to Third Round for First Time

Rome: World number 59 Luciano Darderi made it into the third round of Wimbledon by beating Briton Arhut Fery 6-4 6-3 6-3 Thursday in a match held over from Wednesday night when it was stopped by bad light. The 23-year-old Argentine born player will now face Australia’s Jordan Thompson.

According to Ansa News Agency, this marks Darderi’s first time reaching the third round of a Grand Slam tournament. His victory over Fery was decisive, securing his place in the next stage of the competition.
