Rome: Giorgia Meloni’s right-wing Brothers of Italy (FdI) party will make Rome great again after years of decline, her sister and FdI high-up Arianna said Thursday.
According to Ansa News Agency, Arianna Meloni, head of membership and political secretariat of FdI, stated at Piazza Italia, during the party’s event in the capital, that Rome must regain its greatness and become central to the international scene. She emphasized that similar to their work with Italy, they aim to transform Rome into a thriving city once more. As the next elections approach, the party plans to present a program filled with well-developed proposals crafted with input from citizens, civil society, and local neighborhoods to ensure that Rome’s potential is not neglected.
Arianna Meloni assured that the party demonstrated its commitment to Rome by supporting the city’s administration irrespective of political affiliations. She highlighted the government’s financial interventions, including funds from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) and the Jubilee, which have allocated billions of euros to the city.
She referenced a report by The Sole 24 Ore, indicating Rome’s poor perception and the low approval rating of the centre-left Mayor Roberto Gualtieri, who was ranked second to last among Italian city mayors. Arianna Meloni concluded by stating that there is an urgent need for a significant relaunch of Rome and noted that the government is working towards granting more powers to Rome as the capital, marking a historic initiative by Giorgia Meloni.
