Hospitalized For Two Days For Fumes, Worker Dies

Bassano del grappa: A 48-year-old factory worker who ended up in a coma due to carbon monoxide and sulfur dioxide fumes he breathed in inside a tank he had lowered himself into died two days after being admitted to the San Bassiano hospital in Bassano del Grappa (Vicenza) on Thursday.

According to Ansa News Agency, the accident occurred in a company that processes animal waste, Salgaim Ecologic. A colleague who had tried to help the worker also felt ill due to the fumes.

The Vicenza Public Prosecutor’s Office, which has already opened a file on the incident, is expected to order an autopsy on the worker’s body to determine the exact cause of death.
