USB Union Announces ‘Immediate’ Truck Strike Across Italy

Rome: Grassroots union USB on Saturday announced an immediate strike by hauliers across Italy that will also include local public transport. The union stated the truckers’ strike would be “indefinite”, persisting until a satisfactory response to its grievances is obtained from the government.

According to Ansa News Agency, about half of the hauliers involved in the strike are from the food sector, highlighting the potential impact on food distribution across the country. The union’s decision to strike reflects growing tensions and discontent among transport workers over unresolved issues with the authorities.

The USB union also mentioned that the time frame for the bus, tram, and underground strikes would be announced shortly. The announcement signals a broader disruption in public transport services, which will likely affect daily commuters and the overall transit system in Italy.
