Two Skiers Succumb to Avalanche Injuries Near Cortina
Vatican City: A man and a woman who were skiing on Forcella Giau in the Dolomites above Cortina d’Ampezzo have died after being hit by an avalanche, as reported by newspapers Corriere della Sera and Messaggero.
According to Ansa News Agency, Elisa De Nardi, 38, from Conegliano, succumbed to her injuries overnight at the hospital of Treviso. Abel Ayala Anchundia, a 40-year-old resident of Vittorio Veneto originally from Ecuador, passed away around midnight at a hospital in Mestre near Venice.
A third skier involved in the incident, Andrea De Nardi, a 51-year-old from Conegliano, is currently receiving treatment at Pieve di Cadore Hospital. Medical sources have indicated that he is not in serious condition.
Another member of the skiing group, who was not caught in the avalanche, managed to quickly alert rescue services following the incident on Sunday.
