Two More Victims of Workplace Accidents in Italy
Turin: A spate of fatal workplace accidents continued in Italy on Monday with two men losing their lives in separate labor-related incidents in Turin and Sicily.
According to Ansa News Agency, the first victim was a 69-year-old worker of Egyptian origin, who died when the basket of a crane he was working in fell. The other victim was a 40-year-old worker who fell from scaffolding in the province of Catania, in the town of Riposto.
Workplace deaths are a major concern in Italy, and Premier Giorgia Meloni’s government has stated that boosting health and safety is a priority. In its annual report released in July, the workplace accident and occupational illness insurance agency INAIL reported that workplace deaths in Italy rose by one last year, reaching a total of 1,202.
