Two Italians Destined for Guantanamo, One Already Repatriated
Rome: Two allegedly illegal Italian immigrants were intended to be sent to Guantanamo according to plans by the US government. However, one individual has already been repatriated to Italy, and the other is expected to follow shortly, sources revealed on Wednesday.
According to Ansa News Agency, the first man was returned to Italy a few days ago. The move is part of a larger plan involving 9,000 individuals reportedly destined for the US base in Cuba. In response, Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani has pledged that none of the Italian individuals included in this group will be sent to Guantanamo.
The situation underscores the ongoing complexities surrounding immigration and detention policies, with Italy taking a firm stance against the transfer of its citizens to the controversial US detention facility.
