26-Year-Old Construction Worker Falls and Dies in Lecce
Lecce: A 26-year-old ‘acrobatic construction’ worker fell to his death while doing maintenance work on a building in Lecce, Puglia. This incident is part of a series of fatal workplace accidents in Italy.
According to Ansa News Agency, the victim, Romanian national Razvan Iulian Gurau, fell from a height of seven meters. Reports indicate that the rope he was hanging from broke, causing him to fall from the fourth floor. A 22-year-old colleague made an attempt to hold him back, but it was in vain. After the unsuccessful effort to catch Gurau, the young man expressed his frustration by punching a wall, resulting in a broken hand.
Authorities, including the police and workplace accident agency inspectors, were on site to conduct an investigation into the accident.
