Turkey Evacuates 11 Activists from Global Sumud Flotilla Near Gaza

Turkey: Turkey said Wednesday it had evacuated 11 people from the Global Sumud Flotilla as it nears Gaza amid fears of a confrontation with Israel. The group included individuals who had requested assistance from the Flotilla boats, with three of them being Turkish citizens.

According to Ansa News Agency, the Turkish Defense Ministry issued a statement, broadcasted by state television TRT, confirming the evacuation. The ministry stated, “As part of the humanitarian aid operations conducted by civilian vessels in the Eastern Mediterranean, 11 people, including three Turkish citizens, who had requested assistance have been evacuated to shore by our Naval Forces.”

Yesterday, the Turkish Armed Forces announced their readiness to provide relief efforts if necessary, in coordination with international partners. This declaration underscores Turkey’s commitment to addressing potential humanitarian needs in the region.
