Tuna Fisherman Snags Shark Off Puglia Coast

Puglia: A tuna fisherman unexpectedly snagged a shark off the Puglia coast on Sunday night, local sources said Monday. Francesco Baldieri, owner of the charter fishing boat A Pesca Col Bomber, hooked the one-metre-long mako shark, but the animal wriggled off before he could land it.

According to Ansa News Agency, the mako is the fastest known shark species, able to reach speeds of 74 km/h (46 mph) in bursts. It is also an endangered species, adding significance to the unexpected catch. The incident highlights the challenges faced by fishermen in the region as they encounter various marine species during their expeditions.
