Rome: Premier Giorgia Meloni is a great leader and Italy is a very important ally of the US, President Donald Trump said Monday. Asked about possible new tariffs on Italy, Trump praised the Italian PM’s leadership qualities.

According to Ansa News Agency, Trump emphasized the significance of Italy on the global stage and its strong ties with the United States. “She is a great leader,” he said, stressing that Italy is a “very important” ally for the United States.

Trump further commented on Italy’s role in international affairs, noting, “I like Italy, it’s a very important country. You have a fantastic woman as a leader. She was at the G7 today. I think Italy is doing very well and has very strong leadership with Giorgia,” Trump said.
