Trkiye’s Young Racing Prodigy Set to Challenge Older Competitors

ANKARA: Zayn Sofuoglu, a 5-year-old racing prodigy from Trkiye, is preparing to challenge older competitors as he embarks on a promising career in international motorcycle racing. Under the guidance of his father, Kenan Sofuoglu, a five-time World Supersport Champion, Zayn is set to compete at levels beyond his age group, potentially making history as the youngest Turkish champion in the national motorcycle circuit.

According to Anadolu Agency, Kenan Sofuoglu, who also serves as the Captain of the National Teams of the Turkish Motorcycle Federation (TMF), is committed to nurturing young talent. He is not only focused on his son Zayn but also on 12-year-old Berkay Sariay, as part of a project aimed at developing future international motorcycle racers. Kenan emphasized Zayn’s genuine interest in racing, noting that while his older son is more inclined towards football, Zayn has consistently outperformed older athletes in both motorcycle and karting.

The young racer is poised to make his mark in international
competitions, with plans to compete in the British Championship by 2025. Kenan Sofuoglu noted that Zayn would be racing against eight-year-olds in England despite being only six, hinting at his potential candidacy for Formula 1 in the future. Despite the challenges of balancing coaching his son and competing in professional races, Kenan sees the advantage of spending quality time with Zayn.

Zayn, who has already impressed with a record speed of 312 kph (94 mph), has expressed his ambition to surpass his father and fellow Turkish racer Toprak Razgatlioglu. Kenan Sofuoglu, who retired in 2018 after a remarkable career that includes five Supersport World Championship titles, remains an influential figure in the racing world. He praised Berkay Sariay for his success in various championships, noting the young racer’s recent victory in Austria.

Kenan Sofuoglu’s legacy as the most successful rider in Supersport World Championship history continues to inspire a new generation of racers, with his efforts focused on
ensuring that young talents like Zayn and Berkay have the opportunity to excel on the international stage.
