Trkiye’s Parliament Speaker Emphasizes Duty to Support Palestinian Cause
ISTANBUL: Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmus has asserted that supporting the Palestinian cause is a national obligation for Trkiye. He pledged to promote Muslim unity and isolate Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government on the international stage.
According to Anadolu Agency, Kurtulmus made these remarks on X following a meeting with a delegation from the League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds. The delegation, led by President Hamid bin Abdullah al-Ahmar, met with the Turkish official on Saturday in Istanbul. The League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds is an independent organization established in October 2015.
Kurtulmus outlined three primary objectives for advancing the Palestinian cause. These include increasing the number of its supporters and reinforcing the humanitarian efforts, fostering Muslim unity by setting aside internal differences, and working to isolate Netanyahu’s administration globally.
“We have a long struggle ahead,” Kurtulmus stated, expressing his belief that “a
free Palestinian state will definitely be established.”
