Trenitalia Aiming for London-Paris Service by 2029
Rome: Trenitalia CEO Gianpiero Strisciuglio announced plans on Tuesday for the Italian rail operator to commence high-speed services between Paris and London through the Channel Tunnel by 2029. This ambition was shared during the opening of the Expo Ferroviaria 2025 fair held at Rho, near Milan.
According to Ansa News Agency, Strisciuglio highlighted Trenitalia’s current international presence, stating, “Our presence abroad is already solid.” He noted the company’s operations in Spain and France and expressed enthusiasm for the new venture. The Frecciarossa, Trenitalia’s high-speed train, is expected to connect the two capitals by the targeted year.
Strisciuglio also revealed that Trenitalia has allocated seven billion euros for 2027, which will be used to renew its entire fleet, further emphasizing the company’s commitment to expanding its high-speed rail services and infrastructure.
