Three More Victims of Workplace Accidents in Italy

Turin: A spate of fatal workplace accidents continued in Italy on Monday with three men losing their lives in separate labour-related incidents in Turin, Monza, and Sicily.

According to Ansa News Agency, the first victim was a 69-year-old worker of Egyptian origin who died when the basket of a crane he was working in fell. Another victim was a 40-year-old worker who fell from scaffolding in the province of Catania, in the town of Riposto. Additionally, a 48-year-old worker was killed at a factory that produces industrial valves in Monza. Initial findings indicate that the man was crushed by machinery.

Workplace deaths remain a significant issue in Italy. Premier Giorgia Meloni’s government has emphasized that boosting health and safety is a priority. Data from the workplace accident and occupational illness insurance agency, INAIL, indicates that workplace deaths in Italy rose by one last year to a total of 1,202, as reported in their annual report in July.
