Libyans Fired at Us – Migrants After Landing in Lampedusa

Lampedusa: A group of Egyptian and Somali people who were among hundreds of migrants to arrive on the Italian island of Lampedusa overnight said Monday that the Libyan authorities fired on them during their crossing from North Africa.

According to Ansa News Agency, about 30 minutes after leaving Zahra, a large Libyan boat approached the migrants, and someone opened fire on them. This group was part of 21 individuals who recounted the harrowing experience.

There were 1,531 people at Lampedusa’s migrant hotspot on Monday after a wave of arrivals continued, with 685 people landing in 11 different vessels early in the day and late on Sunday.
