Threat to Block Italian Ports if Sumud Flotilla Stopped

Genoa: Groups supporting the Global Sumud Flotilla on Tuesday threatened to block Italian ports if the Israeli authorities stop the ships belonging to it from taking humanitarian aid to Gaza.

According to Ansa News Agency, port workers in Genoa declared they would not allow even a “nail” to depart from the port if the flotilla is halted. This comes after Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir announced that the vessels would be seized, and individuals onboard detained and treated as terrorism suspects.

In a show of solidarity, a group of left-wing ‘social centre’ clubs and the Adl Cobas union also threatened similar action in Venice. They released a joint statement, asserting their intention to mobilize and blockade the port of Venice if the Flotilla is stopped. The statement emphasized their commitment to turning outrage into direct action and solidarity into disobedience, underscoring the intensity of their resolve to support the humanitarian mission to Gaza.
