Teacher Killed, Drivers Hurt in Truck-School Bus Crash Near Como

Como: A 54-year-old elementary school teacher died, and two drivers sustained serious injuries following a collision between a truck and a school bus carrying elementary pupils near Como on Monday. Despite the severity of the crash, all the children on board the school bus were unharmed.

According to Ansa News Agency, the accident occurred around 4:30 pm on the Pedemontana, at Lomazzo (Como), specifically in the tunnel section beneath the hamlet of Manera. Initial reports suggest the crash involved a large truck and a school bus transporting elementary school children.

The incident resulted in one fatality, two individuals with serious injuries categorized as ‘red codes,’ and 25 individuals classified as ‘green codes,’ indicating no serious injuries among them. Notably, none of the children on the bus suffered any serious harm.

Emergency response included the deployment of 118 vehicles and firefighters to the site. Consequently, the A36 motorway was closed to traffic to facilitate the rescue and investigation efforts.
