Tax Cops Seize 527 Million Fake Products in 2025

Bari: In the first nine months of the year, Guardia di Finanza finance police units carried out approximately 9,000 operations, resulting in the seizure of nearly 527 million items, including counterfeit products, falsely labeled as Italian, or non-compliant with safety standards, the tax cops said on the fifth annual Anti-Counterfeiting Day for Students, organized by the transport ministry in collaboration with the education ministry, in Bari at the Guardia di Finanza Students’ Legion.

According to Ansa News Agency, some 3,344 people were cited as part of the extensive crackdown on counterfeit goods. The initiative aims to raise awareness among students about the dangers of counterfeit products and the importance of upholding authentic Italian craftsmanship and safety standards. The event in Bari highlighted the ongoing efforts by authorities to combat the proliferation of fake goods in the market.
