Washington: Europe is Italy’s destiny, chosen wisely, President Sergio Mattarella declared during a ceremony at the Quirinale presidential palace. The event, held on Friday, celebrated the latest group of business leaders being awarded the title of Knights of Labour.

According to Ansa News Agency, Mattarella emphasized the importance of Europe in his speech, stating, “Europe is our destiny, which we have chosen wisely.” He highlighted the significance of European identity among young people, who see themselves as both European citizens and nationals of their own countries.

Mattarella also praised the Erasmus program and the Schengen Agreement, describing them as exceptional catalysts for interaction, knowledge, and vitality across the continent. These initiatives, he noted, have played a crucial role in fostering connections and dynamism among European nations.
