Tajani Urges Italian Political Parties to Back US-Israeli Peace Plan

Lamezia terme: Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani on Tuesday called on all Italian political parties to endorse the Israeli-Palestinian peace plan proposed by United States President Donald Trump. The plan is supported by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has urged Hamas to accept the proposal or face consequences.

According to Ansa News Agency, Tajani, who also serves as deputy premier, emphasized the importance of this peace agreement during a conversation with Giorgia Meloni. He stressed the necessity for Italy to ensure that the US peace proposal is accepted by both Israel and the Palestinians.

Tajani made a public appeal for unity, urging all political parties to support the peace plan during a parliamentary session on Thursday. He highlighted the global significance of peace, stating, “Let’s all support this peace initiative together; let’s not divide when it comes to peace. It’s a good that belongs to the entire world.”

The appeal was made during a centre-right rally in Lamezia Terme, where Tajani was campaigning for the re-election of centre-right Governor Roberto Occhiuto ahead of the regional elections in Calabria. Tajani is scheduled to address Parliament on the situation in Gaza, with resolutions set to be voted on subsequently.
