Tajani Highlights Trump’s Role in Peace Efforts
Rome: Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani on Monday expressed hope that the United States would continue to promote peace, acknowledging both Donald Trump and Joe Biden’s roles in the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas. “I hope the US will be a protagonist and promoter of peace but it looks to me like both Donald Trump and Joe Biden have exercised a lot of pressure to accelerate the signature of an agreement with Hamas for a ceasefire,” Tajani stated.
According to Ansa News Agency, Tajani added that the immigration issue also concerns the United States, though he described it as a separate problem. He made these remarks via video link from Jerusalem during an event organized by the European Parliament in Italy, titled “Agenda for Peace 2025, the role of Europe and the challenges of the Jubilee of hope.”
Tajani’s comments were in response to a question on what to expect from Trump, coinciding with the inauguration ceremony in Washington DC.
