Huge 1.5 Kilo Kidney Tumour Removed from 8-Yr-Old Girl


Rome: Doctors at Rome’s Bambino Ges¹ Paediatric Hospital said Monday that they had removed a huge kidney tumour weighing 1.5 kilograms from an eight-year-old girl during a complex, nine-hour operation. The tumour was so large that it stretched up as far as the girl’s heart, necessitating a temporary cardiac arrest during the surgery.



According to Ansa News Agency, the intricate procedure was executed successfully by a specialized medical team. The surgery involved challenging steps to ensure the safe removal of the tumour without causing damage to the surrounding organs. The medical team employed advanced surgical techniques to manage the complexities brought on by the tumour’s proximity to vital organs like the heart.



The hospital has reported that the young patient is currently in recovery and is being closely monitored by the healthcare team.
