Tajani Condemns Settler Violence in West Bank

Rome: Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said Monday that he called Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa after Israeli settlers attacked the Palestinian Christian village of Taybeh in the West Bank overnight.

According to Ansa News Agency, Tajani expressed his solidarity with the Catholic prelate following the attack, condemning the violence perpetrated by Israeli settlers in the West Bank. He emphasized the responsibility of the Israeli government to curb these incursions and ensure the protection of Palestinian citizens, including both Christians and Muslims, to allow them to live in peace.

Tajani highlighted the continuous transgressions by the settlers, noting that their actions disregard the stabilizing role that Christians play in the region. He indicated that discussions with European Union partners are underway to consider imposing new sanctions against the settlers involved in the violence.
