Success for Giovanni Sollima’s Concert in Latvia

Liepaja: At the ‘Lielais Dzintars’ Concert Hall in Liepaja, Latvia, the concert ‘Vivaldi. Venice’, featuring cellist and composer Giovanni Sollima, accompanied by the Il Pomo d’Oro Orchestra, was met with resounding success. The event, co-organised by the Italian Embassy in Riga, sold out, marking it as one of the most significant moments of the city’s musical season and a highlight of the Italian-Latvian cultural programming for 2025.

According to Ansa News Agency, the concert was part of a broader collaboration initiated by the Embassy with the Great Amber Hall in Liepaja, one of Latvia’s leading musical institutions. This collaboration also included a concert by the Apulian ensemble ‘La Cantiga de la Serena’, which was similarly co-organised by the Embassy and also sold out.

Overall, these two initiatives attracted over two thousand spectators, underscoring the Latvian public’s strong interest in Italian musical excellence. The success of these events highlights the effectiveness of the cultural collaboration between Italy and Latvia, fostering a deeper appreciation for Italian music in the region.
