Stuck Crane Halts Activity at Catania Airport
Catania: SAC, the company that runs Catania Airport, said Thursday that it has suspended activities because of an obstacle close to a runway that meant landing and takeoff operations were not safe.
According to Ansa News Agency, sources said the obstacle was a tall crane that was being used for works on an area outside the airport and got stuck overnight.
The incident has led to a temporary halt of all flight operations at the airport, causing inconvenience to passengers and airlines. SAC is reportedly assessing the situation and working on plans to safely remove the crane and resume normal airport operations. It remains unclear how long the suspension will last, but SAC has assured that they are prioritizing the safety of all involved while resolving the issue.
