Strong Unity of Purpose for Just Peace-Meloni on Ukraine
Brussels: A video conference Wednesday between United States President Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, and European Union leaders, including Italy’s Giorgia Meloni, showed a strong unity of purpose for a just and lasting peace for Ukraine, her office said.
According to Ansa News Agency, the discussion highlighted a collective agreement among the leaders that achieving peace in Ukraine requires several key elements. These include a ceasefire, ongoing support for Ukraine, sustained pressure on Russia through sanctions, and solid security guarantees anchored within the Euro-Atlantic framework. The statement from Palazzo Chigi emphasized that these components are essential for a just and enduring resolution to the conflict.
Meloni expressed her deep satisfaction with the unity and dialogue demonstrated by the Western leaders during the meeting. She underscored the importance of this collaboration in addressing what she described as a fundamental challenge to security and the defense of international law. As the situation continues to unfold, Meloni noted the importance of monitoring Russia’s stance, particularly in Alaska, given its lack of significant progress thus far.
