Stellantis: Gusmeroli Demands Elkann Report to Parliament.

Rome: The president of the Lower House’s commission of productive activities, Alberto Gusmeroli, announced on Monday that he has formally requested Stellantis Chairman John Elkann to appear before parliament. This follows the unexpected resignation of Carlos Tavares as CEO of the multinational automotive company, Stellantis, an announcement made late Sunday.

According to Ansa News Agency, Gusmeroli detailed his actions during an interview on Sky Tg24’s Start program, emphasizing the urgency of his request. “This morning, following the resignation yesterday of the CEO of Stellantis, I sent a letter requesting to hear President Elkann,” he stated. Gusmeroli underscored the necessity of this parliamentary engagement, highlighting the critical juncture faced by the automotive industry. “It is a difficult time for the automotive sector,” he remarked, referring to the complex challenges associated with ecological transition.

Gusmeroli stressed the importance of unity in addressing these issues, suggesting that mu
ltiple interconnected solutions are required. “It is necessary not to divide over a problem that concerns everybody,” he urged, while also recognizing the potential positive outcomes of these challenges. “As always, great changes can be great opportunities; we have to succeed in finding the right solutions for a sector that is absolutely vital,” he concluded. Tavares’ sudden departure at age 66 has intensified worries about the strategic direction and profit margins of Stellantis, the world’s fourth-largest automaker.
