Rome: Stellantis has a moral duty to operate in Italy, Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani stated following the resignation of CEO Carlos Tavares. Concerns have risen over potential job cuts as the company grapples with declining sales.
According to Ansa News Agency, Tajani, who also serves as deputy premier, emphasized the responsibility of Stellantis to maintain its operations in Italy, highlighting the support the company has received from the state. Speaking at the Alis General Assembly, he remarked on the importance of considering ongoing changes impacting the automotive industry.
Tajani further called for Europe to play a role in this transition, suggesting that certain regulations should be reconsidered, particularly the impending ban on the production of non-electric cars set to take effect in 2035. He suggested that this presents a path that needs to be addressed.
