Starlink’s Italy Deal Faces Roadblock Amidst Official Resistance

Rome: Elon Musk’s Starlink satellite fast Internet service is poised to finalize a deal with Rome, yet it faces resistance from certain officials, according to Andrea Stroppa, Musk’s representative in Italy. Stroppa shared these insights with La Stampa daily on Thursday, highlighting the hurdles Starlink is encountering in its attempts to expand within Italy.

According to Ansa News Agency, Industry Minister Adolfo Urso mentioned that Italy plans to develop its own system within the next five years. Urso expressed surprise at Stroppa’s statements. “What amazes me about what I have read is that Mr. Stroppa believes he knows what was said to the Supreme Defense Council, which obviously works in complete and necessary secrecy,” remarked Urso, who also serves as the Minister for Made in Italy.
