Soccer: De Rossi Takes Over Minor League Side Ostia Mare

Rome: Former AS Roma captain and coach Daniele De Rossi said Saturday that he was in for the long haul after becoming the owner of Ostia Mare, a minor league club in the seaside Ostia district of the capital where he grew up. The club, for which De Rossi played before being picked up by Roma’s academy, competes in the semi-professional Serie D, the fourth tier of Italian soccer.

According to Ansa News Agency, De Rossi emphasized his commitment to a long-term project with the club. He highlighted the importance of creating something lasting, expressing his desire to remain involved for 30 years and to witness the club’s progress over time. De Rossi, a member of Italy’s 2006 World Cup-winning squad, also shared his aspirations to win championships and envisioned matches with a dedicated following, even during away games.
