Meloni Criticizes Magistrates Union for Opposing Judiciary Reforms

Jeddah: Premier Giorgia Meloni criticized the magistrates union ANM for its protest against the government’s judiciary reform. She expressed that the union’s reaction portrays any justice reform as catastrophic. Meloni made these remarks before boarding the Italian Navy’s Amerigo Vespucci training ship.

According to Ansa News Agency, Meloni stated that protests are legitimate, but she regretted ANM’s stance of perceiving every justice reform as an unavoidable disaster. She emphasized that Article 49 of the Constitution allows citizens to join political parties to participate in shaping national politics democratically. Meloni asserted that the government’s actions align with the Constitution, which does not prohibit justice reforms.

Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani also criticized the magistrates’ actions. He expressed disappointment over magistrates leaving with the Constitution during the judicial year’s inauguration in Milan. Tajani remarked that the magistrates should have read the Constitution too.
