Skiing: Brignone on Verge of Clinching 2nd World Title

Sun Valley: Italy’s Federica Brignone is on the brink of securing her second overall world cup Alpine skiing title, marking a significant milestone in her career after becoming the first Italian woman to achieve this feat in 2020. The seasoned 34-year-old skier from Milan requires just 18 more points to surpass her Swiss competitor, Lara Gut-Behrami.

According to Ansa News Agency, Swiss athlete Lara Gut-Behrami must secure a victory to maintain her title contention if Brignone fails to accumulate any points. The final races, which are crucial for determining the champion, are facing delays due to heavy snowfall in Sun Valley. Specifically, the women’s downhill event, originally planned for 7:30 Italian time, has been postponed by several hours.
