Six Arrested in Milan Urban-Planning Corruption Probe

Rome: A Milan judge on Thursday upheld prosecutors’ request to arrest six individuals in connection with an urban-planning corruption investigation, causing a significant disruption to Mayor Giuseppe Sala’s administration.

According to Ansa News Agency, the individuals arrested include Milan’s former urban regeneration chief, Giancarlo Tancredi, who resigned following the scandal’s emergence. Also arrested were Manfredi Catella, the founder and CEO of the Coima real-estate group, and Giuseppe Marinoni, chairman of the city council’s landscape commission, which was dissolved in April. These individuals, along with two others, were placed under house arrest.

Andrea Bezziccheri, the owner of the Bluestone real-estate group, was detained and taken to jail. The investigation also includes several other figures, such as Mayor Sala and renowned Italian architect Stefano Boeri, who are among the dozens currently under scrutiny.
