Sinner Re-hires Fitness Coach After Doping Case Resolution
Rome: Jannik Sinner’s team announced that Italy’s world number one has reappointed Umberto Ferrara as his fitness coach after dismissing him last year due to positive doping tests.
According to Ansa News Agency, Sinner was handed a three-month ban earlier this year following accidental positive tests for clostebol, a banned substance that entered his system through massages. The blame for the positive tests was placed on Sinner’s former physiotherapist, Giacomo Naldi, who was also dismissed by Sinner last year.
A statement from Sinner’s team emphasized Ferrara’s significant role in Sinner’s development, stating that his return signifies a renewed focus on continuity and performance at the highest level. The 23-year-old athlete had been collaborating with another trainer and physiotherapist, Marco Panichi and Ulises Badio, but ended those partnerships prior to his successful run at Wimbledon 2025.
