Sinner Aims to Convince Coach Cahill to Delay Retirement


Melbourne: Italy’s world number one Jannik Sinner expressed his intention to persuade his coach, Darren Cahill, to postpone his retirement after successfully defending his Australian Open title. Cahill, who has been instrumental in Sinner’s recent achievements, is planning to retire at the end of the year.



According to Ansa News Agency, Sinner shared his thoughts following his victory over Germany’s Alexander Zverev in the final match at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena. Sinner won the match with a score of 6-3, 7-6, 6-3, underscoring the hard work undertaken by his team to reach this position once again. He emphasized the significance of sharing this moment with Cahill and fellow coach Simone Vagnozzi, describing them as an effective coaching combination.



Sinner acknowledged that this might be Cahill’s last Australian Open as a coach and expressed his happiness in sharing the triumph with him. He reiterated the importance of continuing their successful partnership, noting that the Australian Open holds a special place in his career. The 23-year-old also extended words of encouragement to his opponent, Zverev, acknowledging the challenges faced by the world number two and expressing confidence in his future success.
