Sex Mustn’t Become Entertainment Pope Tells Young

Rome: Sex must not become a form of entertainment, Pope Leo XIV said during an audience on Tuesday with a group of young French catechumens who are in Rome for the Jubilee of Youth. The American pontiff stressed the importance of “renouncing a culture of death that is so widespread in our society.”

According to Ansa News Agency, Pope Leo XIV elaborated on this culture of death, saying it is manifested today in various detrimental forms such as indifference, contempt for others, drug use, the pursuit of an easy life, and sexuality that becomes entertainment and objectifies the human person. He also highlighted the prevalence of injustice in this context.

Pope Leo XIV further emphasized that the catechumenate is a journey of faith that does not end with baptism but continues throughout life, characterized by moments of joy and difficulty. He urged the young audience to remain committed to their faith and to reject the negative aspects of contemporary culture.
