Scorsese Shooting Second Season of ‘Saints’ in Italy

Trapani: Martin Scorsese is shooting the second series of his TV documentary series on the lives of prominent Christian saints in Italy. The Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Goodfellas, and Departed director has started filming near Trapani and will then move on to Rome, Assisi, and Matera, producers said Monday.

According to Ansa News Agency, the first part of Martin Scorsese Presents: The Saints was an eight-part docudrama series that showed on Fox Nation in November-December last year. It explored the lives of selected Christian saints: John the Baptist, Mary Magdalene, Saint Sebastian, Moses the Black, Thomas Becket, Francis of Assisi, Joan of Arc, and Maximilian Kolbe, devoting an episode to each.

The cult director, a practicing but tormented Catholic, explored religious themes in The Last Temptation of Christ, Kundun, and Silence, and recently announced a documentary based on the last filmed interview of late Pope Francis.
