Saving People at Sea is Gospel, Not Ideology, Says Pope
Vatican city: Saving people at sea is an imperative expressed in the Gospel and not an ideology, Pope Leo XIV said Thursday. “When cooperatives and work groups are formed to feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, rescue shipwrecked people, care for children, create jobs, access land, and build homes, we must remember that we are not engaging in ideology, but are truly living the Gospel,” the pope said in his audience with popular movements.
According to Ansa News Agency, Pope Leo XIV emphasized the beauty of popular movements, highlighting that they are driven by love rather than ideology. “It is beautiful to see that popular movements, even before the demand for justice, are moved by the desire for love, against all individualism and prejudice,” Leone emphasized.
