Russian Fugitive Uss’s Remote-Hearing Request Rejected

Milan: A Milan court on Monday rejected a request from Russian businessman Artem Uss, who fled house arrest in Italy in March 2023 before he could be extradited to the United States, to give evidence to a hearing via video link.

According to Ansa News Agency, Uss, the son of former Krasnoyarsk governor and Vladimir Putin ally Aleksandr Uss, broke his ankle tag while under house arrest in Basiglio, near Milan. He managed to escape back to Russia after a Milan court had approved his extradition to the US, where he was wanted on numerous charges.

Uss had requested to be able to explain the reason for his escape at the trial of Dmitry Chirakadze, another Russian who was arrested last year for allegedly planning his escape.
