Remains of Murdered Italian Biologist Arrive in Italy
Bogot : Italy’s embassy in Bogot has announced that the remains of 42-year-old Italian molecular biologist Alessandro Coatti arrived in Ravenna on Monday. Coatti was tragically murdered in Colombia in April. An autopsy is scheduled to be performed on Wednesday to further investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.
According to Ansa News Agency, Colombian police arrested four individuals over the weekend in connection with Coatti’s murder and the dismemberment of his body. The suspects include three men and a woman. The biologist, who was on holiday in Colombia, had his remains discovered in a suitcase on a riverbank at a Caribbean resort, with other parts of his body found in different locations.
Authorities suspect that Coatti was killed by the gang during a robbery. The investigation is ongoing as more details about the case emerge.
