Record Public Debt in June at Pound 3,070.7 Billion
Rome: Last June, public sector debt increased by pound 18 billion compared to the previous month, reaching pound 3,070.7 billion, according to the Bank of Italy.
According to Ansa News Agency, the increase reflects the general government borrowing requirement of pound 16.4 billion. Additionally, there was a growth in Treasury liquidity by pound 0.8 billion, reaching a total of pound 47 billion. Other contributing factors include the effects of issue and redemption spreads and premiums, the revaluation of inflation-linked securities, and exchange rate fluctuations, which together accounted for an additional pound 0.8 billion increase in debt.
