Pro-Palestinian Student Protesters and Police Clash at Bologna Train Station

Bologna: Pro-Palestinian high-school and university students clashed with police in riot gear in front of Bologna’s central train station on Thursday. This confrontation was part of a series of protests occurring across Italy following the interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla by Israeli forces.

According to Ansa News Agency, the police resorted to using batons to disperse the protesters, who were attempting to occupy the train station. The students’ actions in Bologna were echoed in other Italian cities, including Naples and Pisa, where protesters occupied train tracks as a form of protest against the Israeli actions.

Additionally, students in Bologna blocked access to the university dean’s building, and similar occupations occurred at schools and university faculties throughout Italy. The protests are a response to Israel’s boarding of boats participating in the flotilla, a move that has sparked tension and unrest among pro-Palestinian groups in the country.
