President Mattarella Emphasizes Solidarity as Foundational to Italian Constitution at Milan Migration Event

Milan, Italy – In a significant affirmation of Italy’s constitutional values, President Sergio Mattarella highlighted the role of solidarity towards migrants during a speech at a migration-focused event in Milan on Monday.

According to Ansa News Agency, President Mattarella addressed the evolving demographic landscape of immigration in Italy at the event hosted by the Immigrant Orientation Center – Franco Verga Foundation. He noted the shift in migrant origins from within Europe, like Ukraine, where individuals are fleeing the ramifications of war, to those arriving from the Balkans and other continents plagued by severe hardships.

President Mattarella underscored that these diverse groups of immigrants are not just new faces and voices in Italy but also key contributors to the nation’s commitment to solidarity, a principle deeply embedded in the Italian Constitution. He articulated that their efforts are instrumental in achieving the constitutional goals that lay the groundwork for collective coexistence in Italy.
