Premature to Discuss Ukraine Peacekeeping Forces, Says Deputy Premier Tajani

BERLIN: Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani stated on Thursday that discussions regarding an international peacekeeping force for Ukraine are premature, emphasizing the need to first establish a just peace.

According to Ansa News Agency, Tajani made these remarks during a ministerial meeting in Berlin attended by five EU countries, along with representatives from Great Britain and Ukraine. He underscored the importance of achieving a fair resolution to the conflict, noting that, “We must first of all get to a just peace.” Tajani indicated that any consideration of a peacekeeping initiative should await the conclusion of the war and a comprehensive evaluation by heads of state and government.

Tajani further emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts between the United States, Europe, and Ukraine in striving for a resolution that does not equate to Ukraine’s surrender. “It is premature to talk about any initiative for the day after,” he stated, highlighting that the primary focus shoul
