Pope Urges Respect for Gaza Ceasefire and Advocates Two-State Solution

Vatican City: Pope Francis said Sunday the Gaza ceasefire must be respected and all sides must now work on the two-state solution to the Middle East crisis. “I express gratitude to all the mediators: this is a good job of mediating so that peace can be made,” the Pope said at the Angelus.

According to Ansa News Agency, the Pope thanked all the parties involved in achieving the ceasefire, emphasizing the importance of adhering to the agreement. He launched an appeal hoping that the accord would be respected immediately by all parties involved.

The Pope expressed his hope that the political authorities of both Israel and Palestine, with the assistance of the international community, can reach an appropriate solution for the establishment of two states. He advocated for dialogue, reconciliation, and peace, urging everyone to say yes to these principles.
