Pope Urges Israeli President to Ensure Future for Palestinians

Vatican city: Pope Leo XIV told Israeli President Isaac Herzog that a future must be guaranteed for the Palestinian people in talks in the Vatican Thursday, the Vatican said. During cordial discussions with the Holy Father and in the Secretariat of State, the political and social situation in the Middle East, where numerous conflicts persist, was addressed, with particular attention to the tragic situation in Gaza.

According to Ansa News Agency, discussions focused on how to guarantee a future for the Palestinian people and on peace and stability in the region, with the Holy See reaffirming the two-state solution as the only way out of the ongoing war. “Reference was also made to what is happening in the West Bank and the important question of Jerusalem,” noted the Vatican statement following the meeting between Herzog and the pope.
