Pope Meets with Abuse Victims for First Time

Vatican city: Pope Leo XIV on Monday met for the first time with clerical sex abuse victims in the Vatican. Leo met a group of abuse victims who belong to Ending Crime Abuse (ECA), a network active primarily in the United States, ECA Global said.

According to Ansa News Agency, this is the first meeting, at least among those disclosed, between Pope Leo and victims of clergy abuse. The Pontifical Commission for the Protection of Minors presented its annual report a few days ago, noting the slow pace of addressing the scourge of abuse in some dioceses in Italy.
