Pope Leo XIV to Visit Castel Gandolfo for Summer Retreat

Vatican City: Pope Leo XIV is set to spend a period of rest at the papal summer residence in Castel Gandolfo from July 6 to July 20, as announced by the Vatican on Tuesday.

According to Ansa News Agency, this marks a return to tradition, as the summer residence was transformed into a museum in 2016 after Pope Francis chose not to use it.

The Prefecture of the Papal Household released a statement detailing the Pope’s schedule during his stay. On the afternoon of July 6, Pope Leo XIV will travel to the Pontifical Villas of Castel Gandolfo. During his stay, he will engage in several religious activities, including celebrating Holy Mass on July 13 at the Pontifical Parish of San Tommaso da Villanova. Following the mass, he will lead the Angelus prayer in Piazza della Libert , outside the Apostolic Palace.

On July 20, the Pope will celebrate another Holy Mass at the Cathedral of Albano, followed by the Angelus prayer in Piazza della Libert . The Vatican confirmed that Pope Leo XIV will return to the Vatican in the afternoon of July 20, concluding his summer retreat.
